You know you're officially a military family when ...

Your children start saluting you. Yes, Dottie and Elliot both do it. Dottie probably picked it up at school, and Elliot started mimicking her. When I give a command, a frequent response from Dottie will be: "Yes, Mama!" accompanied by a salute. In this picture, I had given Elliot a snack, and he replied with the salute and a "thank you, Mama!"

In other news, Elliot got a large shiner on his forehead. He ran straight into a metal pole at the playground. It immediately became the size of a golf ball. Since then, the bruise has gravitated to the area surrounding his eye. My mom wanted pictures. So here they are:

I should also mention that my other two children also currently have large bruises on their heads. Ruby took a nose dive out of the exersaucer, and Dottie was climbing on the railing around her bed (in the dark), fell off, and hit her head on her night stand. People probably think I purposefully hit their heads. Maybe it's making them smarter?

Poor little boy! Luckily bruises heal, and all will be well. I like the good manners they are learning. Saluting their momma is a good thing!
