Easter Extravaganza

We had a pretty calm Easter. Wait. I take that back. We had a pretty crazy Easter. I originally said it was calm because we stayed home, but it was a very involved day.

Joe and I are highly involved with the music that goes on in our church. There were three musical numbers for the Easter meeting yesterday. Joe played the piano for all three, and I sang in two of them. Add to this a sick baby. Elliot had a fever and some kind of stomach bug. But we had to go to church. People were counting on us. We stayed for the first hour, and then went home.
This part of the day was pretty relaxing. Dottie had her Easter egg hunt and opened her Easter gifts. Elliot was pretty much indifferent to his Easter gifts since he wasn't feeling well. He mostly slept all afternoon.
Em and Craig came from Denver around 3, and we had Easter dinner with them. It was a yummy meal, and I'm happy to have the leftovers today. Then, that evening, I sang in an Easter Cantata by Sally Deford. I was a soloist, so I was a little nervous. However, there was a performance on Saturday, so I felt better about it last night.
The Cantata was actually a really spiritual experience for me, especially last night. Sally Deford is an amazing composer, and she lives right here in Colorado Springs. If you love music, check out her website: defordmusic.com. You can download sheet music FOR FREE. She writes all of the lyrics and music herself, and it's beautiful music. And this is coming from someone who is very picky about church music.
Sally Deford directed the Cantata herself, so it was all around pretty amazing. During practices she told us how she was inspired to write the music. All I can say is the woman is my inspiration. So last night, since it was the last time I would be singing this music after months of practice, I really listened to the words. The Cantata traces the life of Christ and bears witness of him as our Savior. I can't even describe how moved I was last night. I, too, was bearing testimony of Christ as I sang. I felt particularly moved during a duet I sing with Serenity (you know, my musically inclined BFF). I don't think I have ever felt so good singing before.

Wow, I didn't intend to write so much about the Cantata. It was truly a significant night for me, though, so that is why I'm sharing. Without further ado, here are the pictures from Easter:

This one is actually a few days before Easter. If you notice, Elliot's hair is wet. He decided to take a bath with Dottie. We usually keep the bathroom door closed. Somehow, it got left open, and he dove in, clothes and all. My crazy boy.

Dottie and her Peter Rabbit hollow bunny. She talked about him all during church: "When I get home, I'm going to eat Peter Rabbit!"

Right before this was taken, she said: "Now I'm going to bite his jacket!"

Sorry about the scary smile. This was her Easter gift from Grandma Weed.

See the unexcitement in Elliot's face?

This was the toy that Elliot got slightly excited about: an Elmo book.

I hope Elliot is feeling better. That is rough. Dottie looked super cute in her dress. I love little girl spring dressses. They just don't make cute Easter clothes for boys.

I love Easter! Dottie is especially cute in her dress. I'm sure Elliot will love to play with that Jiminy (sp)Cricket . I like to eat chocolate, too!

Wasn't it Joey who was in the tub when Elliot dove in?

Yes, MareBear, you're right. Joe and Dottie were taking a bath together, I was getting changed, Elliot dove in the bath with them. He wanted in on the bathing action.

Charlotte, We're so proud of your performance in the Easter cantata, and so sorry we weren't able to see it. It sounded wonderful. Thanks for the recommendation of the local composer. Sounds great. We're glad you had a nice Easter. Did you get your e-card? Hope Elliot is better this week.
Love,
Grandma and Grandpa Hansen
